Behind The Mask
Novel | Almadía | 2014 | 200 pages
El Zombi, a tall and strong boy, and Roque, a short and shy nerd, have been friends since childhood. They both go to Germán Butze High School, and their problems are the same as those of the rest of their classmates: chemistry exams, teachers with sociopathic personalities, and beautiful classmates who distract them from studying. But, in addition to dealing with their normal lives, they both have double identities. They are:
Electrostatic Boy and Captain Toxic!
Your first mission is to stop a huge robot that attacks Mexico City’s Santa Fe area and threatens to take over the world. This will be his first meeting with the supervillain Gargantor, the name by which Mauricio is known, a lonely boy with enough budget to make nuclear bombs and clone himself fifteen times.
But that is not all. In your country – extremely similar to ours – paranormal activities are strictly regulated by the government. Ricardo Romero, agent of Paranormal and Ancillary Services and Operations (soup), will look for them to recruit them, as he has done for decades with all young people with outstanding metahuman abilities, and thus keep an eye on them.
Between groups of superheroes rebelling against the government, dance contests to pass the grade and abandoned geniuses seeking to destroy the world, the rookies Roque and Zombi will seek to protect the city and, at the same time, see if they can get the phone number from the girl of their dreams.
